You can Bock on anything
« on: December 05, 2007, 11:59:27 PM »
Don't be put off of trying to use your PJ's on new surfaces
If you are well padded it's worth a try
Just to give you an idea of whats possible these were taken on my PJ's at 8am and yes that is frost, mud and leaves and it got worse further in
But then I did have Studdies on  ;D I even tried a few bounces on it  ;D

Gravels a bit tricky but along as you take it steady it's fine !
Sands can be like bit gravel but you may find your sinking into it !
Damp sand is a little better oddly ( most surfaces are better dry ) but you still have to watch that your not sinking.

One place that's almost impossible to bock on is a wet muddy path with leaf on it  :o
I walked straight into a path like that, I didn't so much bock across it but slipped and slided over it  :o

The last paragraph of Original Two's story springs to mind....

So, springs are finally loosening, you haven’t fallen in a while and as soon as you get the hang of the two footed jumps you'll be back flipping in no time. The sun is out, people are staring in awe and your in the clouds, literally.

As you slowly start to jog, testing the spring, waiting for that extra push. You feel the fibres start to take you as having the bocks on slowly starts to feel natural. You pick up speed as the wind brushes your shirt, you feel like Schumacher hasn't experienced speed. Your pads are left strewn across the floor, you have no need for safety when you are an expert.

The spring stops bending as you feel the force pushing through your leg, your hoof slowly begins to leave the ground and it isn't about to go back down soon as the nine foot stride target seems to be closer than ever. Then you have the moment, that nanosecond of space. You don't know if your going to drop or just stay there, suspended in your own atmosphere, you pay no attention to the toddler, his object of fascination for the next week found. You slowly lower your leg as the moment has gone, a chrystal memory, that split second where you have nothing on your mind, you just enjoy.

And from this high, brings a low. The landing. You have been so absorbed with your run that looking down has not occurred to you and the stench of the rotting leaves has evaded your senses. The hoof, unable to find grip, scrabbles’ around, desperately trying to find a hold on the mass of the green-brown trap. As you start to register a problem the bock slips forward, the shin pressing up and the thigh down. You feel intense pressure then a sudden release. You are ok, until the pain hits, you cannot move, colour drained as you stay frozen. A break.

Well I think Ice covered cobbles in covent garden will take some beating (If it ever gets cold enough)

I was working outside in a T-shirt today and it's almost Christmas

But really the only problem with leaves (and they were so thick you could'nt see the ground) was that they built up with the mud on the bottom of the Studdies and I had to stamp to knock the clods off of them  ;D

Go along the hill a bit and try Motherby Hill it's harder, even first thing in the morning in summer with damp moss in the cobbles ! With ice ... forget it !!

Strage you should mention roads at the bottom of hills DK

When I was about 5 me and a couple of mates made a box car (wooden go kart to you youngsters)

We went up tight hill in Egham (very steep and long, not drivable in snow) the idea was one goes on it and the other 2 hold a long rope tied to the back (as a brake)

All went fine till my turn and then they let go of the rope I don't know what speed I was doing when I overtook the Panda car (old fasioned little police car to you youngsters )

At the bottom of the hill is a large grass roundabout

When the nice police man pulled me out of the flowerbed in the middle he checked if I was alright and then said something like

"Your going to have to come to the station with me sonny"

Well I must have looked like I was gonna burst into tears cause he quickly explained that I was'nt in trouble he just needed me to explain what had happened to the desk sergent

The reason  ???

When he radioed in to say he'd been overtaken by and was persuing a speeding Box car down tight hill the desk sergent had said

"Fred have you been down the pub again" ;D

Those were the days when the copper that stopped you was probably more drunk than you were  ;D

lol

We use to make wooden go-karts too it was great  ;D and scavenge around and ask neighbours for little bits and bobs for them. Don't remember needed anyone to hold the rope thou lol,

Ours use to look like these but we use to settle for the old pram wheels (you know the big massive ones )

http://gokartguru.com/images/wooden%20gokart2.jpg

Kids don't do stuff like that no more

Yep the big pram wheels were the ones to go for very free running and the smaller pushchair wheels for the front to make them look like dragsters  ;D

I can remember many a near death experience on them

By the way I lived next to Staines bridge then and they used to unearth a new wartime UXB at least once a year maybe thats why I'm lucky  ;D
