Raising to foot plate

There's a piont where someone becomes too big for junoirs and moves over to adlut pairs.

The problem is the knee bar can be lowered to a point but if you have short leg you can find the spring hit the back of the knee. The footplate is fixed to the frame so it can not be moved.

There's been a number of people who have found ways around this by boosting the height with a spacer. These spacers can be made from flip-flops or hard foam both are fairly light so doesn't throw the balance of the stilt too much.

I've been helping new people learn to bock and some need a booster block. The problem I have is do these blocks need to be stuck down or would the straps hold the foot and block in place ?

well they could slip out if they weren't held down securely, but if you put like pegs in the bottom of the blocks, that wen't into the hoels in the footplate, then they should stay in nicely, assumign the bindings are done up moderately properly

just use thin pegs then, so they fit in both types of holes, and the pegs are jsut there incase they work their way forward or something, grip tape on the footplates/bottom of the blocks would help aswell probably, if not, uhmm lots of duck tape?

ye DK thats a fantastic idea !   Ive been doing this for years , used the foam alot on the 7s , as did'nt need to adjust the knee bar for people to have a try.

sorry but you seem lonely and feel the need to post things that have been done , i have all the time in the world for people who try , as the only failure is not to have ago.

But you are hard work sometimes and can understand how people get hacked off .

nothing personal !

I think I cracked it !
I brought a Garderns kneeing foam pad from Poundland and cut it into a pair of adult and junoir pair of booster pads. I'm not going to put anything to grip has there's a covering om one side that's grippy.

These or not meant for normal use just for people to try the stilts on. I'm know it's been done but there's no clear topic relating to them and this topic was really a question on how other made theirs  :)

DK i did this mod about 18 month ago
i made it from mdf, then covered it etc,
i screwed straight into the footplate, and used the 2
back screw holes also using longer screws... it gave
an extra inch and a quarter in height, its in one of my
mod sections somewhere, it looks ok too, go check it...
heres a few pics

Thanks Pin.
Thing is I was after a quick fix that we could use when learning people with small leg length.
But it maybe worth spenting sometime in making a good pair like ours to show them what can be done

The foam booster I made did hod up and till going strong.
For 50p a set for people still growing and who want to buy adults stilts it's a grow stop gap untill they grow and can adjust the knee bar :)
