Early Powerisers or Skyrunners?
« on: September 20, 2009, 04:30:34 PM »
Well for a long time now I have been unsure if my stilts are Early Powerisers or Skyrunners, and I would love to find out what they actually are.
When I bought them they were said to already have been in storage for 2 years, which means they were bought in 2006/05 and were manufactured around then(perhaps as early as 2004).
After talking to Jason today, he was saying that he is absolutely convinced they are an older version of Powerisers.
According to Jason:
The older Skyrunners had black hooves and not the tan colour(same as Powerisers) than mine have.
The Skyrunners hooves would never last a year of heavy Bocking like mine have.
The Skyrunners would likely to have broken or had a major problem by now.
My stilts are well built, which would be hard to find with Skyrunners.
You apparently could not find Skyrunners in the UK back in 2005/2006.

If these were Skyrunners then they are a very weird pair, as there are a few things that you don't usually find on them.
The thing is many other people also believe that these are Skyrunners, but they have not taken them apart like Jason has.
So I am rather confused, but these stilts are still going strong after a year of use.

To help I will provide some photos from when they were new and some I have taken now:
When stilts were new:

Stilts now(sorry for the quality, took it with my phone):

So please give me your opinion, thanks :Cwink:

What leads me to believe they are not poweriSers is they lack branding anywhere on them. Even the first PoweriSers released had PoweriSer on the front of the hoof and across the footplate, of which yours lacks both. They also have red washers on the bindings, which riSers never had (to the best of my knowledge). The black spring covering also extends a lot further, the pairs I have seen stop somewhere mid-way down the hoof, they don't go almost all the way to the bottom. The older Riser hooves were good, but not good enough to last 3+ years with such little wear, I trashed mine within a year.

What have your springs got written on the ends of them? RiSers will have a batch number.
My riSers were purchased in 2006 and are the 04/05 model, as were Q's and tundraH's, and all are very different to yours, another reason I find it hard to believe yours are riSers.

It is off course possible they could have been modded before you got them, and be a combination of riSer and other brand parts.

I have only been using them for a year, they were left unused for 2 years.
Where would I find the batch number?

I had another look at them today and the main reasons I don't think they are Sky's are

The spring despite being covered all the way down is a very distinctive shape very similar to the shape of 7/Skip/Poweriser with the rounded edges and squared off ends

The hoofs have lasted really well despite Bio hammering them (as anyone who has seen him jump will agree  :Claugh:) the colour seems to be a bit dark for Powerisers but that could be their age

The bearings had worn really well and only a couple needed replacing despite the age and the reason they were loud was no packing under the springs

They have adjustment holes for raising and lowering the kneebar bracket and I'm not sure where I have seen that before

What ever they are they have done Bio proud for a long while and don't show any sign of giving up yet

All I have heard and seen about Sky's make me believe that they are just not as good as these bocks

Jason  :Hoofies2: :CGEEK:

PS try the top of the springs to see if there is a number there

The metal thing holding the spring obscures my view at the top, so the only option would be to take the spring out, and I am not sure if I would be confident doing that.

you can't put the poll at the top of the thread, like every other forum does?

I'm pretty sure everybody can add a poll to a thread they started. Bio, I think you would get better results if you did this :)

If you couldn't see the button before scroll down to the bottom of the thread and you should see it on the right hand side.

Or maybe i didnt... The poll that has been added is not one from the forum. It is from an external website. He has just embedded it to the bottom of his post so..he could move it to the top or use the forum one ( which i think you were refering too?) it wasnt done by using the add poll button.

No, that's not a forum poll. It's some weird-ass flash-based poll.

I think most people dislike runners because they are illegal.

I believe the CE marking is from an organisation that checks for a products quality and reliability and doesnt really concern itself with licensing and legal trading.

Saying that, I'd be shocked to hell if skyrunners had a CE mark on them lol!

Agree (scarily), aside from being silver, apart from gold, they look exactly like lauras!

Btw laura, met someone who knows you today in Nottingham, weird!

My Bocks have a "Q.C. PASSED 1" sticker on them, I will be getting new Bocks on the 8th, even though my current ones are still in working order. :Cwink:

It's because they're highly unreliable, you get about 1 decent pair to every 10 rubbish pairs, they're illegal, and they try and sell under names like "Powerskip".

I have seen this sticker before on skyrunners. I have no doubts really.
