I have been paratrooping, remember jumping out of the back of a B52 at 8,000 feat and dropping to 1,000 feet before pulling the cute open, at night for more fun!!

They have no crew seats, only on the flight deck and then its the Bomb bay) 8,000 feet is a little high (I think) and opening a chute after 1,000, good luck with that at the speed you would be going

B52s are still used by the american airforce to drop paras. They do it at watton...but at 1000ft or 1500ft. But I am sure 8000 is possible.1000ft is the minimum time that you can open a chute with out going splat first. So maybe he did it but was a close...very close call
