Boccking Oppotunity
« on: July 14, 2010, 08:33:46 PM »
Bit of a strange one this and very short notice

A group are putting on a charity show at the London Paladium in the very near future (weeks rather than months away

The Manager is organising it and I was chatting to him today

Now depending on how when where and skill there might be an opening for a couple of very skilled Bockers to perform

From what I understand they are doing a Barnum and Baily type thing and it might be poss for a couple of bockers to do Flips through the middle of it  :Claugh:

Obviously the backers would need to be able to flip safely on demand on a stage

There is no money involved (even expenses) as it is a charity event and all are giving their tallent freely

The only plus point is you would get to perform on the London Paladium Stage in front of a big audience

I do understand that most high level bockers get paid for their work but this could be a good advert for your tallents as their may be some very conected people in the audience

If anyone is interested answer below but sadly this would be only open to people that are at the flip on demand or even multiple flips etc

I might be able to attempt flipping in a few weeks, I am getting good height (3 foot) on my bocks now, though I think I'd kill either myself, other performers, audience members... or worse it'd be a mass genocide :D

Hi all

Sorry Katy it's the sort of thing that makes money for charity by selling tickets at high prices so I won't be going as I'm too mean  :Claugh:

Realy need very confident performers FunkyCowie

Thanks for the offer Greg I will be seeing the manager on monday so if you could PM me you phone number I will have a chat with him and if it's OK with you give him your number so he can have a chat

I'm not sure what the time and date is but will find out as soon as I can
I didn't go into it to much as I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested (forgot what a media lover you are Greg  :Claugh:)

Thanks

yeah dates would be helpful Jason, Me and k-rock are pretty well booked so i cant consider it until i have a date, plus it being in london i know theres some very talented guys who are way closer than us.
But its for charity, good vibrations in my opinion, me and k-rock have recently done a charity gig for the birmingham childrens hospital, kids with cancer unit.
Heart breaking in some ways but what kid dont like to see nutters upside down? i do believe the next one we are doing for charity is at drayton manor.

But like i say its all about the vibes, im thankful for every job i get on my stilts, so giving back by doing a free gig for charity is a must.

Thanks for the offer Nero and K-rock bit of a journey for you both though

And as it would need a few rehersals before it could get expensive on travel quick

Greg and Tim I have PMed you with some details hope they are ok I think it will be a good thing to do if you can as it could open all sorts of future chances if the right people happen to see you (you could be famous one day )

Not sure how many people they would want but the manager seemed happy with two but I will let Greg and Timm take over this post once they have talked to the guy and seen what he wants

Thanks to everyone for posting

Sadly due to work neither Gregg or Tim can do this

So it's up for grabs if anyone would like to appear at the London Paladium

It is happening on the 29th of august (bank holiday sunday)

I know it's short notice and you would have to attend a couple of rehersals in the next few weeks but it is a once in a lifetime chance for the right bockers

You would need to be very confident on stilts (good height and tricks) and would be nice if you could flip on demand (yes I know its a big order  )

Must also be "of age" so over 17 only (sorry insurance reasons)

If you think you could do it get back to me asap

Not sure Paul but think they will be during the next few weeks

If your interested I could give your number to the manager there and you can have a chat with him

I'll Pm you my mobile in case you want to ask anything else

I think they could be fairly flexable as your bit could be self contained at the start (to make it safer)

Like I keep saying it is a fair bit of work for nothing but next job you go to get on bocks you can say

"I was the opening act at the London Paladium" They don't have to know it was a freebee  :Claugh:

Just would like to say a big thank you to Jason for having me and Carl their today, we had an absoloutly fantastic time and was really worth the the 6 hour round trip =) we got to do 100s of flips outside the Palladium whilst the crowds were waiting to go in etc. We also had our photos taken with lots of people (especially Jason in his costume) after we had done our bit we went for a little bock around London as well where we recieve lots more interest about the stilts and lots more people taking pictures! On the drive home we even managed to get onto capital fm talking about what we had done, and most importantly Carl pulled!!!!

Thanks again Jason and Clive =)

It was a pleasure to have you two down in london guys

And I should be the one thanking you two as you put on one heck of a show for the punters

You two missed the highlight of the evening
As I went back to the car I ran across the road and tripped up the kerb
I'll leave Clive to describe it (he seemed to think I should be Dead  :Claugh:)but it was pretty spectacular

Strangely enough the only thing that hurt was that I got cramp in my right leg as I went down (could have caused it ) so I couldn't get up as one leg was useless

Great night out and we have to do it again soon (Halloween )
